See you later (read with kiwi accent...)

I want to dedicate this blog to a dear friend of mine, mr Kiwi Knox who I briefly talked to this weekend and who i admire very much as a person. Kiwi graduated from Macalester 2004, a econ major and a person who believes in the person inside the man. His motto is C´s get degrees and I have become to belive that every word that comes out of Kiwi´s mouth is true. As a newcomer in this strange land of dreams, USA Kiwi took me around and showed me how things work. He tought me that you don´t really have to show up for the first week of class, you can extend your spring-break up to a week and that you can ALWAYS pull up the foreign card. But his strength was knowing all the easy classes at Mac and for his knowlegde I got a 4.0 and from that I drew my nick name, 4.0lof.

Juicy was also Kiwi´s idea that he got during our O.K. days (Olof-Kiwi days) O.K. days are Tuesdays for normal people, but neither of us had class or anything those days so we made sure that O.K days were always fun. Noramlly they consisted in going to the mall and getting expensive fun stuff... Like a sign for Erla´s door saying Andrew´s private parking and a disco bowl. We would also get drunk and go dancing and from there Kiwi saw that bootie and named it Juicy haha. So I want all of you to think differently about tuesdays from now on and always make sure that you do something fun on O.K days.

Kiwi mate, you muppet hope you get to be in a poster with the Thunder and get to give teenage girls autographs hehe
good luck with everything, Juicy

Fish Cuttin´ Biatz

So, now is the time when all the Icelanders race to the stores to get a thing we all love, easter-eggs. Icelandic easter eggs are made of chocolate and filled with sweets and a "saying". This "saying" is based on either old frases from the vikings or the folk-stories. On the morning of easter day, there is a tradition to hide the eggs and then give clues to find them, fish is low and bird is high. Once the egg is found, it is broken into pieces and the saying is read. Each saying has a meaning and I personally think they play the role of a fortune-teller. I will later share with you all what i got...

Except for looking forward for easter to come, I have been working my ass off and written a few essays. As you all know, Icelanders tend to take long vacations and easter is no exception. Our vacation starts today, and continues until tuesday. All stores and everything is closed, but bars will be opened after midnight... NICE! Normally easter is a time where everyone cuts lose because the sun doesnt go down until 9 o´clock at night and it is a reminder of that the sumnmer is aproaching...

This year will be no exception, party on!

I wish you guys all the best and will give you updates later...

Yaaaaa Maaaan

So this weekend was no ordinary weekend for me myself and I. At three o´clock on a friday afternoo my twin sister decides that we should go to Djúpivogur (Deep Creek) up east to listen to our aunt sing at the local bar where the italian artist festival was held. I had work until six, but decided to skip and take the chance of a perhaps being fired once again...

So the ride normally takes 7 hours, but Juicy´s right foot was bothering her a bit so she stept on it and got us there in 5 hours. Deep Creek is a small fishing village, not unlike Grindavík, but has only around 300-400 people. In the icelandic lingo Deep Creek is called "Congo" because the first people to settle there was an african and his icelandic wife. In Congo, like you can imagine there is always something going on and this time our aunt was singing a jazz song with her husband at this italian art festival. Needless to say my aunt kicked some ass and got offered a record contract, hey maybe I will join her and sing vocals for her new album and become the singer Kiwi has always said I am... After a long night of drinking I have a habit of calling people in different countires from my cell phone and this time I managed to phone three countries, Sweden, North-America and New-Zealand. Please support this bad habit of mine and donate money to this account:

0143-1001

On our way home we decided to get home safely and my twin drove. The weather was awesome and the glaciers and mountains were incredible. We decided to stop at the biggest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull, where one of the James Bond films where filmed. Good old Ólöf was of cours not wearing hiking gear or other suitable clothing, so she hiked the place in her slippers and shorts. You can imagine how that went, I got stuck in the mud and got dirt all over me trying to get back on track. I had to completely change my outfit in the parking lot coz I was so dirty I couldn´t do it in the car. I got a couple of hunks from cars passing by and some even stopped to take pictures and laugh at me. Perhaps one of the 5 most imbarrassing moments of my unlucky life...

The rest of the ride home was smooth and troubleless. From now on I am going to think things through before doing them and stop this cell phone calls to foreign countries... I am also going to keep my job and stop the ass shaking dance I tend to do after I have had one too many...

I´ll take you to the candy shop...

I wonder what 50 cent means by this:

I´ll take you to the candy shop, I´ll let you lick the lolly pop...

Henyways... as you know, Icelanders are famous for their generous vacation days. For example, today is my last day of school for easter break!! But as you can imagine the fishermans daughter has to work while she is not in school or playing soccer, so tomorrow morning I begin my fish cutting career once again and this time for at least a week and a half, money money money:)

This weekend I might go up east once again to visit my aunt and cousins who live up there, in a small fishing village with only 700 people, vuhu, that will be so funny and I don´t doubt that I will paint the town red or any other colour I find...

Well, time to go to bed, hard fishcutting workout awaits me at 7:30 tomorrow morning, góða nótt!!

You must be a famous rapper!!

So I went to this class today that I havent exactly been showing up at lately and asked my teacher for my paper that I had turned in a while ago. The teacher goes... oh yeah, uh let me see and takes a while to look for it. Then he turns to me and says, sorry I dont have your paper. Mother fucker... she had lost it (I thought to myself) Then he comes up to me and goes: Thóra, I think you have aldready picked up your paper...Thóra? Is she talking to me? It turns out he had no idea what my name was and guessed that I must be a "Thóra" type of girl!!

Jesus Bobby, how bad is it when the teachers who see you everyday in a 20 person classroom forget your name!! (well I guess I havent been showing up, but still COME ON!) He knew my name to begin with and now he forgot it. I will have to do some major comeback to this University of Iceland considering the fact that before my trips out of the country I was well known and looked at... hehe

Will make a good comeback tomorrow, drop my bag infront of a handsome law student and do my legendary "oh.. upps..."

until next, au revoir

The thinker.... or the stinker???

Yo listen up this is a story about a little man who lived in a blue house... high five for those who know this song...

Anyways, life in Grindavík Iceland is freaking good. Tonight I saw the most incredible northern lights I have ever seen in my life, they were moving like me last saturday night and everything! hehe...

The best part about being at home though is that you always get a home cooked meal and I can show up for work whenever I feel like it. I also just show up for classes if I feel like going...

Due to some ass kicking fishing that the boats are doing these days, me and my twin sister had to work in the fish factory last saturday, boy was that one of the funnest saturdays since my adventure the other day;) We were both put in this one place called "leggja í pækil" wich basically means to put the fish in this special type of water. While listening to Snoop Doggs new album (man would he come over here and kick my ass if he knew that a bunch of white people were listening to his gangster rapp while working in a fish factory...) we decided to write a book about how to keep in shape while working in a fish factory. One of the things we came up with was to stand in your right leg only and use ur right arm only for a whole fishing tank (the amount of time it takes you to fill it up) Another one was to flex ur abs while cutting twenty fishes, then switch to flexing ur butt for another twenty fishes. We also guarentee results in two weeks!!

This idea sounded great at the time, so you never know if i might drop out of school and become to new "how to" girl how to get into shape, how to cheat in drugs and society, how to drink for various days in a row, how to give body shots to stangers... :) haha

I just found out that my siss and her boy are coming to the land of ice in june... Jesus Bobby, is Iceland ready for Wiss or is Wiss ready for Iceland?? I hope D-Berg and Pat wont stand me up for the first weekend of august... I have already told my coach I would be gone for that month so guys, u have to come!!

Anyways, just finished a ten page paper in spanish that I started today and am on my way to celebrate that along my first weekend since I dont know when of being sober!! I have also quit eating candy, so life is but a dream!

hehe from the cold iceland, i salute you and bid you goodnite...

c ya, wouldnt wanna b ya...

Love shine a light...

Went to my first practise after, well let´s just say a long week of too much fun, last night and holy smokes did I not perform like juicy is used to... My coach wasn´t too impressed with my "business trip" and made me run extra sprints at the end of practise, that mother.....

I also went to my first class in ages at the University of Iceland and it was as if I never left that place, so I encourage all of you my friends to just take a few weeks off when you think you have had enough, school can wait but life doesn´t!!

I have a long night of watching soccer ahead of me so i better get on with my homework. I am fixing this page so you guys can see some pictures from life in Iceland, so you better show me some love and participate...

that´s it for now, have a good one

Guuuuuuuuleyyy!!

Just a quick shout out to all of you who I abused alcoholickly during my surprise visit. Thank you all for showing me a great time and reminding me of what I am missing in the land of dreams...

As you can imagine, after a hard night in Stillwater I managed to sleep for the entire time in the airplane, I slept so hard I almost didnt´t wake up and almost went all the way to Sweden with the connecting flight. That would have been funny haha.

Here is a little recap of my visit:

Monday: Surprised the whole world with just showing up at the doorstep at 1544 Grand
Tuesday: Still surprising people, went out to dinner and ended up at the Onion for Kristjáns birthday. Got reunited with vodkaredbull and need I say more how the night ended??
Wednesday: Cant remember at the moment, what the hell did we do then??? HELP
Thursday: Dehydrated (how do you spell that??) and Plum´s for Kristján´s actual birthday. Vodkaredbull was never far away from me.
Friday: Vodkaredbull still in my system but that didn´t stop us from going out, this time down town. Went to this live music bar, got tricked into singing with Wiss "Sweet Caroline.. oh oh oh" on stage... Ended up at a club called Annex.
Saturday: Albertville, shop shop shop till we all dropped. Went to Friday´s for dinner with all my favorites. Played never have I ever at the house... and lets just say that I will never be the same again... never play this game with family members... hehe. Ended up at Spin, where some unusual things happened ;) I love how small the world is. SWITCH!
Sunday: Woke up with a smile on my face that didnt leave until now. Sun was shining and we took the day at Mollie´s in Stillwater. By far the funnest Sunday I have had in a while.
Monday: Time to leave and say goodbye. Hate goodbyes... Promised to show up for graduation and Juicy never breaks a promise. I will just have to cut a lot of fish in order to be able to come;) We got good seats in the airplane and like I said, I didnt wake up until we landed in dark old Iceland.

Today will be hard... I have a class in about an hour, then homework and then... PRACTISE!!! My coach wont be happy with me and my "business trip" to the states, but hey what can you do? If you wont hear from me soon then I got a heart attack at practise, or my lungs might have given up on me.

Once again thanx for a great visit. Muchos love-yous.

If you guys are angels i´d rather go to hell...

So my dear friends, as some of you have noticed, that booty is back in America, stronger then ever!! I came for a surprise visit for a week coz I thought this webpage needed a little promotion...

So far I have done absolutely nothing, gone to the mall, hung out with friends and loved ones and drunk the piss beer americans make. I also met up with the love of my life... vodkaredbull. He hasn´t changed a bit and i don´t know why I ever left him!!

My cousin is here with me and he wants to give a shout out to all of you who rememberd his birthday. To those who bought him drinks that particular night, well lets say he is paying for them today;)

Tonight should be good, dinner, drinks, dance, doalittlelove, get down tonight!!! hehe. Well the icecold beer is calling my name from not to far. I think I´d better go save it from the isolation in that tiny bottle.

Until next time, bæó!!
